{"id":180,"date":"2012-05-23T10:40:48","date_gmt":"2012-05-23T18:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.myadportfolio.com\/?p=180"},"modified":"2014-08-28T15:44:26","modified_gmt":"2014-08-28T23:44:26","slug":"mcdonalds-mcbites-bite-the-dust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.myadportfolio.com\/wordpress\/mcdonalds-mcbites-bite-the-dust\/","title":{"rendered":"McDonald&#8217;s McBites bite the dust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chickem McBites, those new &#8220;poppable&#8221; chicken morsels at McDonald&#8217;s, introduced in some markets this year are no longer around.<\/p>\n<p>Online reviewers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/01\/27\/mcdonalds-chicken-mcbites_n_1227482.htm\" target=\"_blank\">in general<\/a> dislike them, but reviewing new fast food items puts the bar very, very low &#8212; limbo low, in fact. One <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.financefoodie.com\/2012\/02\/goodness-bite-sized-taste-testing.html\" target=\"_blank\">review<\/a> does like them, stating they have exhibit &#8220;a kick of home-style seasoning.&#8221;  (This reviewer&#8217;s name, Financefoodie, led me to hope there would be some nice numbers in the review &#8212; biggest markets for McBites, profit margin compared  to McNuggets, etc. No such luck. Drat.)<\/p>\n<p>I considered them a nice change from Standard McNuggets  with a Southern Fried Chicken flavor and appeal.  My favorite &#8220;limited-time-item&#8221; is Pork McRibs  &#8212; decent Carolina ribs dumbed down for  the masses.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s would do  well to study the menus on Guy Fieri&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/diners-drive-ins-and-dives\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Diners, Driveins and Dives<\/a> on Food Network.  Any reasonably good recipe from that  show would become a drive-through best seller.<\/p>\n<p>I did find some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/02\/08\/mcdonalds-revenue_n_1262502.html\" target=\"_blank\">McD&#8217;s numbers<\/a>. Revenues climbed 6.7% in January in part due to McBites.  With that bit of good news, I  hope they bring Chicken McBites back.
